How Will The Church Be Lighted?

Several centuries ago in a mountain village in Europe, a wealthy nobleman wondered what legacy he could leave to his townspeople. He made a good decision. He decided to build them a church. No one was permitted to see the plans or the inside of the church until it was finished. At its grand opening, the people gathered and marveled at the beauty of the new church. Everything had been thought of and included. It was a masterpiece.

But then someone said, "Wait a minute! Where are the lamps? It is really quite dark in here. How will the church be lighted?" The nobleman pointed to some brackets in the walls, and then he gave each family a lamp, which they were to bring with them each time they came to worship.

"Each time you are here'" the nobleman said, "the place where you are seated will be lighted. Each time you are not here, that place will be dark. This is to remind you that whenever you fail to come to church, some part of God's house will be dark"

That's a poignant story, isn't it? And it makes a very significant point about the importance of our commitment and loyalty to the church. The poet Edward Everett Hale put it like this:

I am only one,
But still I am one.
I cannot do everything,
But still I can do something;
And because I cannot do everything
I will not refuse to do the something I can do.

What if every member of your church supported the church just as you do? What kind of church would you have? What if every single member served the church, attended the church, loved the church, shared the church, and gave to the church exactly as you do? Will you be the lamp that casts light on the world?

Be the miracle.

This post comes rather late, but at least its here now! These few weeks have been really happening! Amidst being busy with ccas, open house, getting back of results, pw, blahblah, we’ve had lots of fun as a J1 CG too! (:

By the time you read this on the 12th of October (or later), you are most likely going to be:

(a) half asleep
(b) dead tired
(c) all of the above

I was at Jiexun's house earlier and trust me, I was very encouraged to see everyone there despite having slogged at HC's Open House earlier in the day.

The best part? None of you whined about being too shagged for cg. (: I suspect God must have been grinning from ear to ear when He saw how enthusiastic you guys were towards cg and how warm the fellowship was.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY YINGHAN! (: I hope you realise that you are deeply loved and cherished by the caregroup.

Lastly, a shout out to the other J2s who made their way down to Kovan. (: And to Jiexun who offered the caregroup venue. Plus he had to fuss over the birthday plans. Stressss la.

Hello everyone.

Here are the pictures from JCCA4's sandwich party. (: It was pretty cool how the other caregroup had sandwich making too and believe me, there was no collusion involved!

I think we all had a lot of fun listening to everyone's explanation about how their sandwich represented their lives. Some smoked, while others were really insightful. (:




Lee Yang, Shaun and Robert were the very committed and dedicated sandwich party committee. So kudos to you guys for preparing all the food for our sandwiches. (:
