When everything goes wrong +[ Micah 3:12]
+[2 Timothy 3:1-7]
- The world will always get worse before Jesus returns, so we do not expect things to improve when it is already going wrong now
- Israel was nearly wiped off
- God used Micah to rebuke Israel
- Now, we learn about the 3 responses that we receive from God which may be caused by our negligence.
1. When God doesn't help: Ask if you are treating others fairly (v1-4)- v4: God will not answer the people for He hides himself when we treat others unfairly
- Even the leaders embraced evil!
- corruption and bribery in society
- Imporvished people
- God's response to this unjust treatment of His people is His
silence+[ Proverbs 21:3]
- God will not help mean people
- The way we treat people thru words-- whether we laugh at people
-- Whether we treat them disrespectfully
+[ Colossians 4:1]
- If we treat people badly, we forget God is our master and that He'll treat us the same way.
- The elitist mentality causes us to forget sometimes.
- We treat people inconsistently based on skin colour, profession etc.
- Racist mentality, treating people with better qualifications better, discrimination
- Inconsistency in the way we treat people causes us to bully people smaller than us causing God to shun from us.
- Start doing good by treating people justly from where we are
- Stop taking advantage of another.
+ [Leviticus 25:17]
- Do not take more than you need especially from the same person
2. When God doesn't give revelations, ask if you're not compromising the Word (v5-8)-v6: God stops speaking to you
- The prophets and leaders are disgraced.
- God stops giving revelations
- Prophecies become inaccurate
- God used Micah to preach to a group of prophets, his faith was strong to boldly speak the words that God used him to deliver
+[Jeremiah 20:9]
-when will your faith be compromised? - underpressure
- when you are tempted by short term pleasures
+ [ 1 Thessalonians 1:4-5]
- Treating the Word of God lightly
- cause backsliding
- compromise will make you compromise even more
3. Ask if you are taking God for granted when God doesn't give protection (v9-12)- v12- visual signs of God will leave
- God's abscence
+[ Amos 5:14]
- God leaves as punishment
-seek Good, not evil.
- Israelites lived without the glory of God
- they took God for granted
We drift when:a) We're too busy for God- being complacent +[ Revelations 2:2-4(NLT)]b) When we want something from God+ [ Romans 8:15-18]c) when we become complacent in our hunger for God+ [Deut 4:29]Labels: sharings (:
