March third.
Sorry for the long absence of everything!! I shall start posting again. And today i'll stay with today's sermon by pastor shirley :D
Dying for more- truths of covetousness
+[ Micah 2:1-5] (NCV)
- Covetousness- 1. The extreme greed for material things
2. Insatiable desire for wealth
1. Covetousness is an endless pit(v1-2)
- the people in the passage are not poor -> old times, only the rich have "beds"
- they are powerful as well -> "power to do so"
- they want more at the expense of others
- they will never be satisfied and will always want and need more
- Covetous people always will say they want "a little more"
+ [Ecclesiates 5:10]
- "those who love money will never have enough"
- Would we feel less if we're less well off?
- Dangerous to base our confidence on what we have
+[ Luke 12:15 (NLT)]
- Our identity is secure in Christ :))
- Serve with whatever we have and God bestows even more when we're a channel of blessings
- whatever we have is given by God and we should give back to Him and thank God for whatever we have instead.
- Covetousness is an endless pit.
- Learn to be satisfied.
2. Covetousness guarantees eternal loss (v3-4)
- God plans trouble against covetous people
v5: you will never receive anything from God anymore
- If God is against us, who is with us :(?
- We are blessed so we can bless.
- Be giving :)
+ [Luke 16:13]
- You cannot strive to serve both God and money
- money is a great servant but a TERRIBLE master
- God uses it to bless our lives and to bless others
+[ Leviticus 27:30]
- Our tithe is a tenth of what we get or earn
- We're not giving to God but giving BACK to God.
- he first gave to us :D
+[ Malachi 3:10]
- bring tithe to the house of God and let the house of God bless the people :D
- Giving to the kingdom is na opportunity to bless others :D
- not an obligation but an issue between you and God.
- If you want to give, give the best to God
- Don't practice left over giving- > Don't insult God
- Let's give the best -> our time and money:)
- Let's be content with material things and covetous for spiritual things!
- HUNGER for God :D
- Spend the best time with God
- God has made a standard, should we give Him any less?
