Welcome Fongyee to Hope and to the family!:)

For the sake of people who have missed service, i'll start this sermon note posting drive. Every saturday i hope everyone can contribute to this to help learn together and to help people who have missed the current weeks sermon to learn and benefit from what people present at service have learnt! It helps everyone learn together i feel. And also it helps us understand what each of us has learnt from it! Hope everyone can help contribute learning points and also add on or correct what i've written in case its wrong x.x :P or if different view, just add it in your own learning from the sermon :D

Today's Sermon notes:

How to Journey with God Victoriously
Main verse: Joshua 3:1-7

1.Keep God first in your life (v5)

- God told the Israelites to "consecrate" themselves.
+ "consecrate" means to set your life aside and keep God first in our lives :D
+ This allows Him to be able to do more in our lives, because we personally allow him to do so :D
+ [ Hebrews 12:2]
-- He's the perfecter of our lives-> He knows the ending
-- and also the Author of our lives -> He created us and knows the beginning.
-- Thus, He knows where we can go in life because He's had a plan for us before we were born!
-- God has the map of our life and will bring us to wherever we want to be if we follow His map.
-- Put God first because He knows best :).
+ God may not feel "close" at times. But this is because...
-- He is our heavenly Father guiding us to walk as a child and at some point he has to let go
-- To let us be independent and to learn to walk and depend on Him with our own faith
+ [ Hebrews 13:5]
-- God said He'll NEVER let us go.
-- He says it and means it, because He never lies and He's always done whatever He said.
-- He watches us no matter whether we feel close or not.

2. Ask God to lead you everyday (v6-7)
+ God leads us to claim blessings
+ [ Matt 6:31-32]
+ God sees our needs and He'll grant EVERY SMALL REQUEST if only we ASK

3. God leads you through problems
+ [Psalm 145:18]
+ We're close to God through...
-- Reading the Word:D
-- Our caregroup:D
-- Our brothers and sisters in christ :D
+ Caregroup is a group that CARES.
+ We may feel the pressure from friends & family, even as a mature believer
-- BUT HANG ON! Because we're not alone for christ is with us!

There is no problem too big God cannot solve.
There is no problem too small that God doesn't care!

Things i've learnt: Ask God for challenges in the coming year, so that we grow in Him and grow to rely on Him. Because in challenges we see the needs and we see the actuality that we need to rely on Him. The miracles will also show themselves in these times :D. Big problems, big miracles :). This road with God hasn't been easy but it's been a rewarding 2006!!! 8 months isn't very long, but God has made a huge impact in my life and I'm looking forward to the exciting and tough year ahead!! I really thank God for the caregroup, for our growth, for all the fellow harvesters/brothers&sisters/friends, because of all the things that we've stuck thru together and the times we laughed and cried, the memories of promos and camp and everything. Its been a really beautiful year and i pray that 2007 will be even greater :D
